Details
A rich and voluptuous wine filled with scents of dark plums, rich berries and a hint of chocolate and baking spices.
This wine is such a paradox - it comes from one of the cooler wine-growing regions in Australia, and yet displays perfectly ripe fruit and a powerful richness.
It's origins show through on the finish however, with beautiful acidity and real freshness.
To talk about the Cumulus vineyard is to talk about the region that it sits in - Orange. Their 508-hectare, high-altitude vineyard is one of the largest single-estate properties in New South Wales, and certainly the largest in the local region. Set across the rolling hills of Boomey, the vineyard continuously rises above and falls below the all-important 600 metres above sea-level mark, making it one of the few dual-appellation vineyards in Australia. (It is an unusual wine law that says that for a wine to be deemed as coming from the Orange region, it must be located above 600m above sea level!) Sitting upon ancient soil 600 metres above sea-level, Orange is the largest and highest cool-climate winemaking region in Australia. The cooler mornings at the Cumulus estate create ideal growing conditions resulting in intense, fruit forward wines. Their techniques have been honed over decades, and they now produce some of the most sought-after wines that are made in NSW. Pairing guide
There’s no shortage of things that make us proud to be Australian, and to be honest, Shiraz sits pretty high on the list. This superb and boisterous red from Cumulus tastes great with a massive array of savoury dishes (and we reckon it’s a winner with dark chocolate cake, too), but you just can’t beat a Shiraz with a barbecue… and that’s how we love to drink this particular bottle. Smoky, charred, tender meat, vegetables chucked under the grill, steaks rubbed with spices and slapped over the coals, homemade burgers and butcher’s sausages are all going to hit the spot very nicely indeed, as if we needed to tell you!

Wine region

Orange (region), Australia
The Orange wine region is a bubbly, sunny place where the grapes are ripe and juicy and the wines are as bright and cheerful as a summer's day. Nestled in the heart of New South Wales, three hour's drive to the west of Sydney, this region is known for its crisp, refreshing wines that are bursting with flavour due to its surprisingly cool climate. Whether you're in the mood for a fruity Chardonnay, a zesty Riesling, or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, the Orange wine region has a wine for every palate. So why not grab a bottle, kick back, and enjoy the laid-back charm of this delightful wine region? Cheers!
