Details
An epic wine, one of Australia's best. A medium bodied Shiraz, not a blockbuster, but with presence nonetheless. Plenty of red fruit, white pepper and brown spices. Long in flavour and with plenty more to come with time in the cellar, this is a wine for the ages. A true classic.

Here's a little ditty... about Pat and Dianne. Alright, alright, no more John Mellencamp, we promise. But seriously, this is a story worth telling. It might just be one of the most enduring wine stories in Australia. It goes a little like this... back in the 1860s, Scottish-born Australian politician James Johnston was nearing the end of his government career and bought a plot of land in Sunbury, Victoria. The vineyard was named Craiglee, and the wines soon won international acclaim. In the 1920s the vineyard turned to sheep grazing when the price of wool exploded overseas Skip forward a few decades and a unique tasting of 1872 Craiglee Shiraz inspired Pat Carmody to replant the vines on this famed site. Their first release was a 1980 Shiraz, the first wine made from the site in over 50 years. Today the Craiglee Shiraz is one of the most collectable in Australia. An old-world charm and finesse pulses through the wine's veins... and Pat and Dianne still run the farm.

Pairing guide
Fruity, intense, and packed full of character - a great Shiraz is a fine thing, indeed. This red wonder from the ever-reliable Craiglee definitely ticks all the right boxes as far as we’re concerned, and it’s an absolutely top-notch Sunday roast kind of wine. Perfectly paired with roast beef joints, leg of lamb or lamb shank, and whole roast duck with all the trimmings, it’s exactly the kind of wine we want to sip alongside a big plate of food slathered in gravy. It’s also going to be delicious with short ribs, homemade burgers, sausages, grilled and roasted vegetables, stuffed capsicums and tomatoes, and much, much more besides!
