Details
This is textbook stuff - the perfect example of dry, Provencal rosé! A blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, it is a rich, impressive blend, packed with ripe strawberry fruits, rhubarb and citrus notes, along with a sense of depth and plushness. There's some strong minerality and saltiness on the finish - food-friendly, versatile and great to have in the fridge for any occasion.
Coup de Genie is a relatively new label, and is the brainchild of wine importers David Matters and Tristan Habeck, of Wholebunch Wines. Owners of Sydney bottleshop Best's Cellars, they directly import a range of brilliant wines from all over Europe, New Zealand and North America. A few years ago they decided to put together their passion for brilliant wine and their importing nous and create a label for themselves, sourcing the best fruit they could. They started with a chardonnay from the cool, northern Burgundy region of Chablis. Not just any chardonnay, but one from a Grand Cru vineyard, one of the best in the region. Next they looked for one of their favourite wine styles - dry Provencal rosé. Deciding on a mix of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, they put together their ideal dry rosé. The result - coup de genie - a stroke of genius!

Provence rosé wines are known as among the best in the world, and not without good reason. This delicate and elegant pink wine packs in plenty of crisp acidity and mellow fruit flavour, and it’s an absolute winner with simple dishes of cheese and charcuterie, homemade pies, salmon en croute, and vegetable soups. It’s also delicious with a risotto, a pasta salad, family favourites like lasagna, or even a margarita pizza!

Wine region

Provence, France
Provence is a wine region in southeastern France best known for its delicious rosé wines and beautiful beaches. It's also home to a number of protected wine appellations, such as the Côtes de Provence AOC and the Bandol AOC, which produce some of the best rosé wines in the world. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, this region has a warm and sunny climate, with long, hot summers and mild, wet winters. The landscape is filled with rolling hills, and picturesque villages on a gorgeous coastline, making it a holiday hub for many - sand in your toes, and rosé on the beach, anyone? But if rosé isn't your thing, the region also produces white and red wines, predominantly made from a variety of grape varieties, including Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault. Whether you're a wine enthusiast or just looking for a fun and relaxing vacation, Provence has something for everyone.
