Details
This is a lovely blend of Vermentino, Verdicchio, and Inzolia, three Italian varieties that, when combined, create a nice fruit salad mix. With lemon zest, passionfruit and crunchy green herbs, this is a fresh summer white with a high feel-good factor.
You’ll find in this industry, just like any other, that winemakers do get bored easily. In Chris Coulter’s case it is the story of a winemaker working for a larger winery, getting tired of making the same wine day-in day-out, and deciding to jump out on his own and start experimenting. Coulter Wines is that experimentation with fruit sourced from wherever he damn pleases with a focus on quality and most importantly, wines that he and his wife Bec want to drink at home. The great thing about Chris is he sources from regions that other wineries might sneeze at, like One Tree Hill, which is on the scenic route if you head from the Adelaide suburbs to the Barossa Valley. The outcome of Coulter Wines is delicious, modern winemaking with a nice mix of lessons learnt along the way. Chris will tell you that this vintage of his wines is the best yet, for the sixth time in a row, and that is why at GPD, we love him!

Pairing guide
Bright, juicy, and full of Barossa personality, Coulter’s 'C4 Field Blend' is an easy-drinking red that balances vibrant fruit with savoury spice. Its soft tannins and freshness make it a perfect match for charcuterie boards, grilled lamb cutlets, or wood-fired pizzas. It’s also brilliant with Mediterranean-inspired dishes, such as roast capsicum, eggplant parmesan, or tomato-based pasta. For a casual pairing, try it with burgers (beef or veggie), sticky BBQ ribs, or a spicy sausage pasta—this is a wine built for sharing over a lively table.
