Details
This is a real cracker, and certainly sits outside the norm for a Hunter Valley white blend. It's a real mix-up of different varieties, blended to create a full flavoured, complex, aromatic wine. Viognier really leads the way, and the wine is packed full of stone fruits, vanilla and rich spices. The fatness of this wine is balanced with a fresh citrussy finish, which really pulls things into line.
Scott and Missy Comyns are the husband and wife team behind the new-wave, edgy Hunter Valley wine brand Comyns & Co. Whilst only a few years old, they are already making waves with their unique blends and bold branding. Scott is the winemaker and prefers to keep things simple - he allows the fruit to express its individuality from vine to the bottle. The focus for Comyns & Co. is to create traditional styles of Semillon and Shiraz from small batch parcels of premium Hunter Valley fruit, whilst also venturing into the more emerging varieties of Viognier, Fiano and Tempranillo. Scott has had over 17 years in the industry, working for premium wine producers, with premium fruit and winning a bunch of awards along the way. All this has given him the confidence to create his own brand and dutifully represent the Hunter Valley and all that it offers. Missy completes the team as the “Positive Vibes Manager.” Her official role is Cellar Door Manager, amongst her many other titles, and Missy joins the wine industry from a background in the health industry. She brings with her a key eye for branding as well as an energetic and genuine personality along with her. Together these two are making some of the more interesting styles from the Hunter Valley - cheers to that!

Hunter Valley, Australia
The Hunter Valley is located in New South Wales, Australia. It is situated approximately 150km northwest of Sydney and is known for producing world-class Semillon and formidable Chardonnay, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, and Shiraz.
The region has a long history of winemaking, with the first vines planted in the 1830s. Today, the Hunter Valley is home to more than 150 wineries, ranging from small, family-owned operations to larger, internationally recognized producers such as Tyrell’s Wines, Mount Pleasant Wines and Brokenwood Wines.
Hunter Valley comprises the following sub-regions: Upper Hunter Valley, Broke Fordwich, and Pokolbin. The region's climate is warm and humid, relying on rain, humidity, cloud cover and sea breeze to mitigate the warmth. Soil types vary across the region. Generally, Semillon performs well on the sandy alluvial flats, whereas Shiraz prefers the red loamy soil types.
