Details
A deeply savoury, medium bodied sparkling wine. There's some power here - it's not just not fruity aperitif number. The flavours are very citrussy, with lots of patisserie and biscuit. Yeasty, solid and round, this is a wine to be paired at the dining table.
The Haselgrove family has deep roots in Australian wine production, and has exerted considerable influence throughout the industry. A family steeped in history, the current generation is headed by Nick Haselgrove, who established the label in his own name in the early 1990s, after the establishment of the family estate in the early 80s. Their history is deep - grandfather Ron Haselgrove learned winemaking at famed winery Leo Buring in Watervale, during the 1920s, but made his name as an innovator in fortified wine and St Agnes brandy production at Angove’s in Renmark. He went to Mildara Winery in 1934, bolstering its quality and reputation by creating famous wines, and drove the establishment of Mildara’s Coonawarra cellars in 1963. When he passed away in 1977, Ron left a legacy built on deep technical knowledge and innovation, coupled with smart business and management strengths that elevated Mildara to become one of the powerhouses in Australian wine. His son James set out his own and created the family winery. Nick carries on the family name and makes wines from across South Australia, building on years of experience and tradition.

Pairing guide
If there was any doubt of the fantastic health of the Aussie sparkling wine scene, this bottle puts all naysayers in their place! Beautifully crisp and fresh, this elegant bottle of bubbly is ideal for dinner parties, light lunches, beach barbecues and celebrations of all shapes and sizes. It’s a great wine for pairing with savoury pastries - think salmon en croute, cheese filo creations, and quiches and tarts of all descriptions. It’s a real winner with French fries (the more loaded, the better!), as well as the usual suspects of fresh and raw seafood, battered fish, smoked salmon, and fried chicken.

Wine region

South Australia, Australia
South Australia is a wide and varied state when it comes to wine production. From the coastal regions of Limestone Coast and McLaren Vale, to the warmer inland valleys of Barossa and Eden, to the flats of Langhorne Creek, there's a range of terroirs and temperatures across this wide brown land. As a result, wines labelled with only South Australia can display a range of flavours! The state is probably best known for Shiraz, Grenache and Cab Sav in reds, and Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay in white. Whatever your flavour, there's plenty to explore!
