Details
We have a classic Argentinian Malbec for those who can’t whisk off to the airport for a quick trip to South America. The wine is driven by rich chocolate and dark fruit with a slight Ribena edge. Silky tannins and slick texture, this is one smooth operator.
Mendoza is leading the pack when it comes to Malbec, the Argentinian region is now synonymous with this variety that for years was content with being a blending grape in Bordeaux. Mendoza has given this tricky but delicious grape its rightful place in the hall of fame of red wine. The Cinco Fincas team have focused on producing a classical Malbec, with access to different vineyards that each add a layer of complexity to the wine. The winery was created by a group of British winemakers who have been steadily broadening their reach of production from Europe to all across the globe. They had a particular style of wine on the drawing board with this project and have delivered in spades. We are thrilled to be a small part of their story and are introducing this winery to Australia for the first time, so GPD team, enjoy the wonderful world of Mendoza Malbec with this delight.

Pairing guide
We all love a good bottle of Malbec, and this deliciously bold and boisterous number from Cinco Fincas is a stunning example of what this quintessentially Argentine wine style does best. It’s probably best served alongside a big hunk of red meat and a pile of chips - think ribeye steaks with a slightly spicy or smoky rub - or with barbecued chicken thighs, leg of lamb with onion gravy, or a plate of meatballs and chilli rice. However, it’s also a top match for vegetarian lasagna or bolognese, and will also work well with roast sweet potatoes and cheesy eggplant, too.
