Details
This is a classy cabernet blend that is worth the price of admission and one that has fans all over the world. There is plenty of savouriness to the wine which dominates the palate with sweet spice and cedar balanced with bay leaf and undercurrents of blackberries and blackcurrants. There is a nice balance of tannin that will go perfectly with some red meat.
Guillaume and Natacha Poitevin are the third generation owners of the family estate located in the northern Médoc town of Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac. Until recently, most of the land was given way to grazing cattle and farming oysters; however there are now 13 hectares devoted to vines. Guillaume’s grandparents grew grapes on the family estate and sold all the grapes to the local cooperative, however this changed from 2003 when the family started making their own wine. Guillaume and Natacha were actually childhood sweethearts, who met at the age of thirteen, are extremely industrious and have expanded the family estate, building much of the winery themselves. Château Poitevin has a fantastic reputation for reliable red wines as well as a sought after Sauvignon Blanc blend that is fast developing an amazing reputation.

Pairing guide
Check out this delicious Bordeaux blend by Chateau Poitevin. It’s a wine that just calls out for deep and savoury flavours, for rare steak or slow-cooked red meats in rich and unctuous sauces. We also love this wine served with charcuterie, pate, and meat terrines, and it’s just as good with everyone’s favourite French cheeses like a ripe camembert of runny brie. Shepherd’s pie is a safe bet, too, as well as pretty much anything that combines beef, lamb, gravy and potatoes!

Wine region

Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux is a wine region located in southwestern France, known for producing some of the world's most coveted and expensive wines. The main takeaway is that Bordeaux wines are a blend of grape varieties. Sometimes called noble varieties, this includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. This ‘Bordeaux blend’ style is emulated worldwide from Australia to South America!
Key regions can be divided into two areas, the Left Bank and the Right Bank. The Left Bank includes Médoc, comprised of sub-regions - Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, and Margaux. These wines are Cabernet Sauvignon dominant with serious tannin structure for the long term. The Right Bank is known for softer wines made of Merlot. The top right-bank area is Pomerol, home to the iconic Château Pétrus with honourable mentions to Saint-Emilion and Fronsac.
