Details
A multi-vintage blend of Chardonnay, taken from twelve separate vineyards, including some of the best vineyard sites in th Côtes des Blancs (the 'white slope') subregion of Champagne. After five years ageing on lees (leftovers from the fermentation that add creaminess to the wine), this is a wine of toasty complexity alongside bright citrus and stone fruit aromas, with generosity of palate and fine, minerally persistence. Marvellous.

Maison Henriot was founded in 1808 by young widow Apolline Henriot, who was already the owner of Pinot Noir vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. With an understanding and deep love for the Champagne region and the beauty of its vines and landscapes, she created the first Henriot cuvée, now known as Henriot ‘Brut Souverain’. In 1880 Apolline Henriot’s great-grandson married into a family from the Côte des Blancs, and in doing so added to the family’s Premier Cru holdings with Chardonnay plots in the Grand Cru vineyards of Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly. In the early 1970s seventh-generation Joseph Henriot increased the collection of reserve wines at Maison Henriot, which had been initiated by Apolline Henriot more than two centuries earlier. Independent and family-owned for more than two centuries, today it is eighth-generation Gilles de Larouzière Henriot who presides over Maisons & Domaines Henriot and strives to perpetuate the Henriot family legacy, and conquer new horizons.

Pairing guide
There’s something irresistibly luxurious about a good Blanc de Blancs Champagne, and this stunningly opulent bottle from Henriot ticks all the right boxes. The clear forerunner for food pairing is going to be seafood and shellfish dishes - everything from crab cakes to oysters, mussels, lobster and prawns - but it’s also superb with lighter fish dishes, fish or vegetable fritters, fried chicken, and almost any kind of green salad. Sushi, sashimi and ceviche will work nicely, and it’s also surprisingly good with frittata, tortilla, and other egg-based dishes.

Champagne, France
Champagne is the ultimate party starter! This sparkling wine hails from the famous chalky soils of the Champagne region in northern France and is made using a special method called "méthode champenoise" that gives it its signature bubbles. Pop open a bottle of Champagne at your next celebration and watch the good times and fizz flow! Whether you prefer a dry Brut or a sweeter Demi-Sec, there's a Champagne for every occasion. There are three main grape varieties used in the region, these are Pinot Noir (red), Pinot Meunier (also red) and Chardonnay (white). Each of these brings a unique set of characteristics to Champagne.
