Details
Now here is a red that welcomes the summertime! Sweet-fruited aromas, with candy floss and red liquorice. Super juicy; lots of fruit here - dark cherries and blueberries, with a tanginess that gets a tiny bit savoury yet remains upbeat, bouncy, ripe and ready for another glass. Give it a moment over ice and enjoy in the sunshine!

The Chalmers name is iconic in Australia, for the impact they have had on the wine scene over the past three decades. Bruce and Jenni Chalmers began growing wine grapes in the mid 1980s in central NSW, and over the years their vineyard became one of the most diverse, privately owned vineyards in Australia. The sustainable viticulture techniques Chalmers implemented and refined at this site have been widely taken up, to improve water efficiency and fruit quality using less water and chemicals. They also established Chalmers Nurseries, which was responsible for importing a selection of around 70 clones and varieties (with a focus on Italian varieties) that were introduced to Australia in 2000 and have been a major factor in the diversification and improvements in quality seen in the Australian wine industry in the last decade. Nero d'Avola, is a grape that we have to thank the Chalmers family for importing, and you'll now find it throughout Australia! It's rather drought resistant and yields very highly while still retaining loads of sweeter and dark fruit characters.

Pairing guide
Nero d’Avola is quickly climbing the charts to become one of our absolute favourite food-pairing reds, and this bottle from Chalmers definitely hits the high notes. At its heart, this wine really is a meat-lover’s go-to bottle: it’s great with homemade burgers, will love being paired with bacon, and works brilliantly with barbecued chops, steaks, and ribs. Meaty stews and braises will also work a treat, and it’s going to be a winner with classic meat-based Italian fare, ranging from bolognese to lasagna, and everything in between. Vegan substitutes in rich tomato sauces will also hit the spot, and it’s great with grilled eggplant, strong aged Italian cheeses, and anything with mushrooms and truffle.

Wine region
Heathcote, Australia
The Heathcote wine region is located in central Victoria and until the 1980’s it was broadly known as part of Bendigo. The region itself is famous for the ancient cambrian soils which date back 500-600 million years which characteristically have a rusty, iron colour and have good moisture retention which is ideal for this warm region. Heathcote is well suited to Shiraz and Grenache as well as newly introduced varieties like Fiano and Nero D’Avola.
