Details
The Barossa Valley is synonymous with Shiraz, so the clever team at Chaffey Bros have produced a classic Shiraz to fit the bill. With dark fruit, a decent whack of pepper and backbones strong enough to hang around for days, this wine is singing the Barossa tune loud and proud.

The Chaffey Bros are in fact brothers-in-law - Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and Theo Engela are the latest generation of the Chaffey family to ply their vinous trade in Australia. The name is based on their ancestors, the original Chaffey brothers, who were Canadian hydro engineers who arrived in Australia in 1886 and proceeded (along with a number of their descendants) to make an indelible mark on the Australian wine landscape. Their ethos is simple - present the vinous power, splendour and richness of the Barossa and Eden Valleys in a modern and digestible manner. So, their handmade, minimal-intervention wines come from individual parcels of low-yielding vineyards spread across the region. They are akin to wine-focussed parfumiers - discovering delicate aromatics, born from old vines, but mixed with blenders and storytellers. All in all, they're a more than welcome addition to the South Australian wine scene.

Pairing guide
Smooth, generous, and brimming with Barossa character, Synonymous shows plush blackberry, plum, and a touch of warm spice, all wrapped in velvety tannins. It’s a natural match for bold, hearty dishes like slow-braised beef cheeks, BBQ brisket, or a classic Sunday roast with all the trimmings. Its richness also pairs beautifully with chargrilled eggplant, mushroom pie, or aged cheddar. For a more casual pairing, try it with gourmet burgers, wood-fired pizzas with spicy sausage, or sticky glazed ribs—the wine’s dark fruit and spice handle big flavours with ease.
