Details
An exceptionally elegant expression of Sangiovese here, with delicate scents of violet and blood orange. Well-balanced and dry, with good structure and a velvety texture. The pepper and cinnamon notes meld beautifully with redcurrant and earth, and lead into a voluminous and gently tannic finish. Long and lingering - delicious.
The medieval village of Castello d'Albola stands on top of the splendid Chianti hills in the borough of Radda in Chianti; it is quite unique for its fascinating history, works of art and unique position in such a wonderful agricultural landscape of unsurpassed harmony. It has belonged to some of the most aristocratic families in Tuscany, before most recently being purchased by the Zonin family in 1979. The vineyards are situated at a high altitude, and this lends the wines a grace and a freshness that other Chianti aspire to. The history of the place, along with an irreproachable work ethic from the current winemaking team, results in such effortless wines of poise and freshness, bundled with the inherent meatiness of Sangiovese from this part of Italy. A really shining example of what happens when years of experience are channelled into vineyards of great pedigree in a fantastic region.

Pairing guide
There’s something about Sangiovese that instantly puts us in mind of the glorious Tuscan sunshine - these grapes really manage to capture that part of the world perfectly! As such, it would be something of a travesty to not match this bright and beautiful red wine with classic Italian fare; whether that’s a homemade pizza, a spaghetti bolognese, or something a bit more regional is entirely up to you. It’s also a great pairing for roast pork and beef, meaty salads, livers, and hard cheeses like parmesan.

Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany is a region located in central Italy known for its rolling hills, beautiful countryside, and rich cultural and artistic heritage. But for us, it’s synonymous with wine, mainly those of Chianti. The Tuscany wine region is located in central Italy and is known for producing formidable red wines made from grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The area is home to several famous wine regions, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which are known for producing some of Italy's most highly regarded wines. Notable producers include Antinori for their legendary Chianti and Tenuta San Guido for their fabled Sassicaia label.
