Details
With Primitivo as the variety in this rosé, there is a nice watermelon and cranberry fruit profile to this wine, along with a creamy finish and delicate pink colour, the Casaponte Rosato deserves to be drunk on any day of the week.

Origin: The spiritual home of rosé is Provence, in Southern France. Mainly Grown In: Rosé is found all over the world these days, but coastal regions are especially well suited to the growing of red grapes for rosé. Key Facts: Rosé is predominantly made from red grape varieties. The colour in wine is actually from pigments found in the skins of the grapes, so even red grapes have clear-coloured juice. The colour is then ‘bled’ out of the skins by infusing the skins into the juice. So for rosé, the wine simply spends far less time hanging out with the skins! Rarely you will find a rosé that is a combo of white and red grapes – they’re not ‘less good’, just less common. Rosé is super versatile – it suits any occasion. Best to always have a bottle in the fridge, just in case, you know… Wednesday happens or something. Fun Fact: Rosé from Southern France, such as Provence and Minervois, is like the "Little Black Dress" or smart suit jacket of the rosé wine world. Sometimes nothing beats the classics.

It’s a natural partner for grilled prawns, salmon salads, or watermelon with feta. It also works beautifully with charcuterie, Mediterranean mezze plates, or light pasta dishes with fresh herbs. Serve well chilled for picnics, summer lunches, and easy outdoor dining.

Wine region
Puglia, Italy
Puglia is a wine region in the "heel" of Italy that is known for its red, white, and rosé wines. The full-bodied red wines are often made with Negroamaro and Primitivo grapes, while the whites are usually made with Verdeca and Fiano grapes. Puglia has a hot, sunny climate which helps the grapes ripen fully and gives the wines a rich flavour. The region is also home to some unique grape varieties, like Nero di Troia and Bombino Nero. So, if you're a fan of Italian wine, definitely give Puglia a try! Historically Puglia has been better known for its quantity of wine over its quality. But thanks to a number of quality-focused producers, the region is turning that narrative around.
