Details
This striking red is a blend of Garnacha and Garnacha Tintorera and is named for the wild boar that are often seen snacking on the vineyard’s grapes. It lies on the northern slope of La Sierra de La Pila, a mountainous region full of pine trees and wild rosemary and thyme that influence the wine’s aromas, along with red berries, dark cherries and blueberries, and chocolatey oak spice. Give it some air!
In the last decade, modern Spanish winery Casa Rojo has made a name for itself internationally, thanks to its award-winning wines of exceptional quality, as well as the brilliant, colourful artistic labels and witty names. This creative spirit imbues the wines as well as the packaging; choosing to work not just in one region, but across Spain, currently producing wines from seven different areas. In each of these carefully-chosen regions, the emphasis is on native grape varieties, limited production and capturing the essence of the particular terroir. Casa Rojo was founded in 2010 by husband and wife team José Luis Gómez and Laura Muñoz, the oenologists and directors of Casa Rojo. Their passion for the world of wine led them to embark on a wine tour of Spain with the goal of representing the most important Spanish terroirs and native grape varieties. A mixture of modernity and respect for tradition informs the decision-making, and so far is being met with success and absolutely delicious wines!

Pairing guide
This Garnacha from Casa Rojo is a gorgeous example of this variety’s best features, and it’s going to pair very well with loads of tasty dishes - what’s not to love? We especially like this wine with roast poultry, paprika-spiked meats and charcuterie, and with more robust fish dishes like roast salmon. Harissa lamb, Moroccan-style chicken stews and vegetarian classics like vegetable and lentil bake, mac ‘n’ cheese, and stuffed capsicums are also delicious options to explore.

The region is situated in a valley surrounded by mountains, with vineyards planted at varying elevations. The hot and dry climate, combined with the region's sandy and rocky soils, creates ideal growing conditions for grape varieties such as Monastrell, Tempranillo, and Garnacha. Murcia is particularly renowned for its Monastrell, which produces rich and full-bodied red wines with bold fruit flavours and a hint of spice. In addition to the wine, Murcia is also a popular destination for its vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and beautiful landscapes.
