Casa del Arco have put together a delightful field blend with Airén as the dominant variety. It has a strong kick of zesty lime, brown lime cordial and a saline freshness to start. There is a lovely salivating note to this, which makes it extra quaffable.

Origin: Somewhere in the Spanish wilderness! Mainly Grown In: Led by the huge plantings all across Spain - it is more common than Tempranillo! Key Facts: Airén is Spain’s most planted white grape variety, and at one stage was actually the most planted grape in the world! Slowly fading from favour as Spain moves towards focussing on red wine production, the remaining vines are split in usage between wine and brandy production. A fine, zesty white wine, it is focussed on citrus and acid, and tends to avoid oak. With a heavy tropical edge to the tangy fruit, it is sometimes blended with Sauvignon Blanc, but it's its own beast, and a real Spanish specialty!
