Details
A light coloured wine, but plenty of zip and zing! It's delicately floral, backed up by fresh lime, ripe pear and white peach. The taste is rich but fresh, with white grapefruit and some more peach. On the finish it turns savoury, with some herbaceous notes that mix with the acidity to be both mouth-watering and engaging. Delicious.

Cape Barren is a winery with a strong history and proven track record of making interesting wines that reflect their place. Established in 1999 in McLaren Vale, it has since spread its wings and now also makes from the neighbouring region of the Adelaide Hills. A mix of ancient vines (adding complexity and concentration) and younger plantings, of established varieties and up and comers, its range is ever-expanding and full of great value wines. Rob Dundon is the co-owner and head winemaker, steering the ship, and has a wealth of experience, not only in McLaren Vale, but also abroad. The name of the winery comes from the migration of one of the world's rarest geese, the Cape Barren Goose. Towards the end of each summer, they arrive in hordes from Kangaroo Island, flying into the vineyards searching for grain and grape seeds after harvest. Native to Australia, the birds are named after Cape Barren Island where the birds were first sighted centuries ago.

Pairing guide
When it comes to quality white varieties, Grüner Veltliner is a solid feature in our top five. It never fails to impress with its crispness and clarity, and it’s always a winner at the dinner table. We recommend pairing this number with leafy green salads, goat's cheese dishes, and even classic fish and chips. However, this is also a superb wine for pairing with spicy southeast Asian dishes, such as Vietnamese noodle salads and rice paper rolls too.

Wine region
Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
