Details
This sensational sparkler from the talented team at Cantina di Carpi is a joy to drink. Crisp, refreshing notes of golden apples and ripe pear dominate and combine with attractive saline notes and a lick of stone fruit. This lightly sparkling 'Frizzante' is of a softer sparkle than traditional fizzy wines - bubbles so gentle you could practically have it with breakfast!

Origin: The original sparkling wines were made in a place called Limoux in southern France. Mainly Grown In: These days, the whole world sparkles - these styles are made anywhere and everywhere, from a range of grape varieties. Key Facts: Champagne gets all the attention, but there's so much more to the world of sparkling than that. In fact, there are four main methods of production for sparkling wine, each producing slightly different styles and flavours. What is common across all of them however is really focused, tangy acidity (due mostly to harvesting the grapes early - the acidity is needed to keep the sparkling wine fresh) and an elegant fruit profile. Main flavours often include various citrus fruits, crunchy green apples, and hints of honey or biscuit. At the end of the day though, it's about those bubbles and the refreshment factor! Fun Fact: Frizzante is an Italian sparkling wine, which means it has a slightly lower level of carbonation than spumante, another type of Italian sparkling wine. Frizzante is often served as an aperitif and is known for its refreshing and lightly effervescent character.

Wine region
Emilia-Romagna, Italy
Emilia-Romagna has to be one of the most important food regions in the world as the home of Parmigiano Reggiano and Balsamic Vinegar as well as Ragu or as we know it Spaghetti Bolognese. Aside from the amazing food, there is also some really decent wine to go with it! Known for producing delicious red wines like Lambrusco and Pignoletto as well as Sangiovese as well as white wines like Albana, this region has a unique climate that allows grapes to ripen perfectly. So when you next head to Bologna, make sure you enjoy all of the local produce!
