Details
A dog is a man’s best friend, the perfect team with one providing the other with food and water and the other letting you give them lots of pats. With Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, we have an equal partnership where they both add their strengths to the relationship. With Cabernet Sauvignon you get some smoky meat notes and a touch of capsicum and the Shiraz is providing the weight and plushness on the palate. Together, they both agree that they require a cuddle on the couch!
For the majority of you who are enamoured with winemakers with what must seem to be a perfect job compared to boring office jobs or a tradie and the folly of all their clients who think they could do a better job! Well owning a winery is a combination of office work and a job where plenty of people tell you what they think of your booze, good or bad. For Cathy and Neil who make Boots & All, the name is never more apt with their roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and honest approach. Cathy is the winemaker and Neil handles the logistics of day to day winery operations and they certainly give it their boots and all. Their main operation is for their main winery, Whicher Ridge, yet this label has been made in partnership with the Good Paid Days team. So, to people like Cathy and Neil who give it their all and at least at the end of the day, they don’t have to go searching too hard for a good glass of wine.

Pairing guide
Who doesn’t love the richness and power of a great Cabernet Sauvignon blend when meal times roll around? This beautifully boisterous bottle from Boots & All dials up the flavour, and deserves to be paired with equally punchy taste sensations. Grilled steaks with peppercorn sauce, wild mushrooms and truffle, game meats and casseroles or lamb and duck would be ideal pairings, but it’s also excellent with smoky eggplant, roast root vegetables, garlic vegetables and mature blue and cheddar cheese. Nice!

Wine region

Geographe, Australia
Geographe is a wine region located in the South West region of Western Australia (40 minute’s drive Northeast of Margaret River). It has a Mediterranean-style climate with warm, dry summers and mild, winters, which is ideal for growing grapes. The soils are predominantly sandy loams, providing good drainage and nutrient levels for the vines, and some vineyards have access to the permanent water table 15m below.
It is known for producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. Compared to nearby Margaret River, Cabernet Sauvignon from Geographe tends to have distinctly fine gain and lingering tannins. The region has seen a rapid growth of boutique producers in recent years, aided by its proximity to Geographe Bay, which is home to a world-class food and wine scene, but attractions like Busselton Jetty, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and gorgeous seascape panoramas.
