Details
Torrontés is the queen of the Argentine wine landscape. It is an aromatic variety that masquerades as a Gewürztraminer, without the sweet finish. With a floral bouquet on the nose, lemon and lime leaf along with a touch of passionfruit, this is a wine with a lot of personality.
Origin: Argentina – it’s the only major grape that is truly native to the country. Mainly Grown In: Argentina (especially Salta, La Rioja and Mendoza), with tiny plantings in Chile and a few experimental vineyards elsewhere. Key Facts: If Malbec is Argentina’s king, Torrontés is the queen. Aromatic, expressive, and just a little dramatic, this white grape is unlike anything else grown in the country – or the world. It's got the perfumed punch of Muscat or Gewürztraminer (think orange blossom, lychee, jasmine and peach), but with a dry, often zesty and refreshingly bitter finish that keeps things snappy rather than cloying. Torrontés thrives in high-altitude vineyards where the intense sun and cool nights lock in flavour and acidity. It’s the ultimate mischief-maker: you smell something sweet and floral... then take a sip and realise it’s dry, crisp, and totally unexpected. Fun Fact: It’s often compared to Viognier or Gewürztraminer, but has a personality all its own – more sass, less sugar.

Pairing guide
Fragrant and floral with hints of peach, citrus, and spice, Don Aparo Torrontés is Argentina’s signature white at its most inviting. Perfect with aromatic dishes, it shines next to Thai green curry, Vietnamese spring rolls, or lightly spiced chicken kebabs. Fresh salads with herbs, ceviche, or goat cheese tarts also bring out its lift and perfume. Keep it chilled and let the aromas work their magic.

Mendoza, Argentina
Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region which is located in the foothills of the Andes mountains. Mendoza is located 1000 km inland from Buenos Aires and is closer to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The region is famed for Malbec, which accounts for 20% of the variety planted in the country, yet also produces high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the native grape variety, Torrontés.
