Details
The ‘Almorqui’ white is an Airén dominant blend with a splash of Sauvignon Blanc to round things out. There is a drive of preserved lemon and lemon zest on the nose, while the palate opens up with nectarine and melon. The balance between texture and acid is on point as well.
The Bodegas Pinoso team is an odd team, you have the affable Irish man, David, who is great at chatting about all things wine with his dreamy accent, but don’t let that fool you as he slips into effortless Spanish when chatting to Miguel, the other half of their team. The winery is based in sunny Alicante, where they have a strong focus on organic management in the vineyard. Pinoso's vineyards are planted at an average of 600m above sea level. This elevation makes for cooler nights allowing their fruit to retain that all-important acidity needed for a balanced wine. The focus of Pinoso is Monastrell (AKA Mourvèdre or Mataro) which is well suited to warm climates and plenty of sun. They make delicious and colourful red and pink wines from this key variety as well as a mix of other varieties in the white space, including the ultra rare Merseguera. We recommend these delicious wines with some jambon or semi-hard cheese.
