Details
Inspired by long summer days watching the cricket, the Village Green Shiraz is a ripper of a wine; with intense aromas of deep, dark berries and plums, spice, undergrowth and vanilla richness. The palate is savoury with the spice element at the fore, and flavours of chocolate and cherry, and soft tannins. It’s plush and mouth-filling, rich and ripe - Cherry Ripe actually!
Bec Hardy Wines is an enduring family affair. Established in 2015 and headed by Bec, the first female vigneron of one of Australia’s oldest wine families, the Hardys. The Hardy name has been synonymous with great South Australian wine since the 1850s, and sixth-generation Bec continues that tradition, adding a flourish of colour to this grand old dynasty. Growing up on her parents’ property in McLaren Vale in the 1980s, Bec remembers having her own bit of the garden to grow veggies. These days it’s grapes she grows, but she treats them with as much care as those tender carrots from decades past, and with vineyards scattered around McLaren Vale and across the state, there's plenty to tend. In 2020, Bec took over the ownership and running of the Pertaringa brand in McLaren Vale as well, as part of her family’s succession planning. Established by her father Geoff Hardy in 1980, Pertaringa continues to be a family-owned and operated wine business under Bec and her husband Richard. The future looks bright!

Pairing guide
If you, like us, just can’t get enough Shiraz in your life, then this beautiful rich red from Bec Hardy is sure to satisfy the senses. It’s a natural match for all your favourite grilled or barbecued beef, lamb or chicken thigh dishes, and will pair very well with unctuous meaty stews and casseroles, too. Whole roast poultry and leg of lamb with Mediterranean vegetables will be great, as will stuffed eggplant and capsicum dishes, slow-cooked ragu sauces, and braised lentils in red wine.
