Details
The classic Aussie blend of Shiraz and Cabernet grapes come together here in an easy-drinking and easy-pleasing red perfect for quaffing with or without food; fruits of the forest berries with plums and sarsaparilla and a touch of spice. There’s creaminess on the palate, it’s full-fruited and lip-smacking, finishing with an acid tang and lots of tannin. Grippy!

Origin: A close tie between Bordeaux and South Australia! Mainly Grown In: These days Australia is recognised as THE place for Shiraz/Cabernet blends. Key Facts: Shiraz is a world-beater. Starting small in the southern reaches of France, it has spread to all corners of the world, and is known for producing some of the world’s great red wines, capable of perfume, power and persistence. Local versions are luscious and fruity, loaded with plum, raisin and plenty of oaky richness. The addition of Cabernet Sauvignon adds tannin and a green herbal character, making these wines unique. Fun Fact: Australia's most famous wine, Penfold's Grange, is a classic Shiraz/Cabernet blend!

Pairing guide
The coming together of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon is always going to be a sensory treat for lovers of bold red wines, and this beautiful blend from Bec Hardy hits all the right notes. Pairing with darker meats such as roo, venison, leg of lamb and topside of beef will bring out the best in this wine, and bitter greens such as kale, broccoli and brussel sprouts will also work wonders on the palate. Garlic, wild mushrooms, truffle and richer potato dishes are also highly recommended, as are recipes involving wine-braised beans and lentils. Fantastic!

South Australia is a wide and varied state when it comes to wine production. From the coastal regions of Limestone Coast and McLaren Vale, to the warmer inland valleys of Barossa and Eden, to the flats of Langhorne Creek, there's a range of terroirs and temperatures across this wide brown land. As a result, wines labelled with only South Australia can display a range of flavours! The state is probably best known for Shiraz, Grenache and Cab Sav in reds, and Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay in white. Whatever your flavour, there's plenty to explore!
