Details
A great example of modern Aussie Chardonnay, this comes from a single vineyard in the Lenswood subregion of the Adelaide Hills. It's smokey, creamy and yet still tight and fresh. Loads of lemon curd and grapefruit, backed up by rich vanilla, marzipan and grilled hazelnuts.
Coonawarra winemaker Jess DiGiorgio is the brains, heart and soul behind this new, innovative brand. She is ably assisted by Jamie Sainte, an experienced winemaker based in Mildura. Forged together by a shared vintage in Burgundy & Beaujolais in 2018, they now source some of their favourite grape varieties to make wines that are fun and deliver great drinking. For them, Bande Apart represents the coming together on this project, from two very separate places - both geographically and personally with different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. It loosely translates "to do something apart from the group", and is representative of how they feel - doing things differently, from the creation of their business, to the way they make the wines. The wines are all made with a light touch - wild yeasts, no filtration and gentle hands. They want the fruit to speak for itself, for the wines to be unique, fluid and enjoyable. Given the first round of releases, we reckon they're right on track.

Pairing guide
Soft fruits, hits of citrus freshness, and mountains of character come together in this beautiful Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, making it perfect for pairing with some seriously yummy dishes and ingredients. This wine is an absolute champ with denser, meatier fish - everything from shark and skate to cod loin or salmon will work very nicely with a glass of this Chardo! Equally good with vegan and vegetarian avocado dishes, silky tofu and Indian favourites like paneer, and chicken, turkey, and pork classics, it possesses impressive versatility. It will even taste fantastic with creamy and buttery pasta dishes, and pretty much anything wrapped in savoury pastry. Nice!

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
