Details
Fiano is one of Ballinaclash's secret weapons, having scooped a gold medal at the Canberra and regions wine show shortly after being bottled. It's such an inviting wine that smells of honeysuckle and fresh blossoms with a juicy but tangy palate that is really impressive.
The Ballinaclash story is as much about fruit as it is wine. In 1965, Michael and Bernie Mullany started a cherry and stonefruit orchard in the fertile hills around Young, central NSW. Grapes didn't come into the equation until '97, when the next generation of Mullany's took over and planted the first vines. Now, the Ballinaclash property grows 14 different cherry cultivars, 13 grape varieties, and a huge range of stone fruit, complete with a fun pick-your-own fruit business that runs on the weekends. Historically, the Ballinaclash grapes have gone to other winemakers, including a group of top-shelf Canberra wineries, such as Clonakilla, Nick O'Leary, and Collector Wines, but the Mullany fam also have Orange-based winemaker Chris Derez making a small amount of frankly delicious wines that we really like.

Pairing guide
Fresh, floral and loaded with honeysuckle delights yet still crisp and fresh, it's hard not to like this wine. We can see it working brilliantly with Mediterranean fish dishes - bream with sage butter, grilled sardines and pan-fried sea bass with new potatoes and parsley, especially, as well as with all kinds of seafood given a good spritz of lemon. Dishes which put green herbs in the spotlight will be excellent, and it’s also highly recommended with goat’s cheese salads, vegetarian dishes of artichoke, asparagus and green beans, and all your favourite leafy greens.
