details
Classic Pinot fruit here, with the underlying earth and funk of the Loire Valley. There's plenty of sour cherry, raspberry and a gentle earthiness. The wine is medium bodied, savoury and yet generous, with plenty of red berries and cherries matching with the nose. Lovely texture and a soft, persistent finish with very gentle tannins.
There’s a long and proud tradition of co-operatives, negociants, and communal wine making in the Loire Valley of France, where proud traditions sit side by side with forward-thinking approaches to viticulture. Les Athletes du Vin is one such co-operative, and sees many of the regions most ambitious and talented winemakers join forces in the pursuit of excellence, combining unique parcels of land and flawless fruit to deliver wines that are more than the sum of their parts. The group that founded Les Athletes du Vin is the rather brilliantly-named ‘Vini B Good’, and is composed of vintners situated in the lower regions of the valley. Their vision was a simple yet highly effective one; to explore how their respective terroirs and fruit could combine to produce peerless single varietal and regional blended wines, each of which had plenty to say about their very special corner of France. Deliciously refined yet refreshingly unpretentious, the wines of this group truly encapsulate what makes the Loire such an esteemed part of the wine world - long may they continue!

Pairing guide
We’re a huge fan of this elegant Pinot Noir at Good Pair Days, and there’s no escaping the sheer versatility this wine offers when it comes to food pairing options. Like most Pinot Noir, this wine is going to be especially happy when matched with medium rare duck breast, confit duck leg, and rich lamb dishes. However, it’s also superb with all kinds of tomato-based pasta sauces, olive dishes, beans and lentils, roasted salmon, rare beef steak, and hearty meat stews. Delicious!
