Details
Grenache can be such a versatile grape - if you give it the chance! Yes, it makes awesome full-bodied reds of power and presence, and can equally deliver fresh and juicy reds without any oak. But did you know it can make killer rosé too? From the acclaimed region of Margaret River this combines refreshment with texture. Plenty of complex fruit here - exotic melon, paw paw, strawberry and cherry blossom. A hint of white pepper and ginger. Tangy acid but a lovely creamy mid-palate.
Altus Rise can be found near the coast in Yallingup. For the uninitiated, Yallingup means ‘place of caves’. This gorgeous Mediterranean landscape is the most northern sub-region of Margaret River, Western Australia, a region synonymous with fine wine. Here the moderating effects of Margaret River’s maritime location are profound. There aren’t many vineyards in the world that grow this close to the sea. Altus Rise seems to do it naturally, with vineyards just 80m above sea level and access to abundant water catchment at the foot of the property that flows towards Yallingup. Moisture is usually a challenge for most low-lying vineyards. Yet, thanks to careful site selection, the soils at Altus Rise are free-draining during the wetter seasons, with sharp enough slopes that can usher the rain away when required. The Wild Light range captures the natural beauty of the sub-region with its briny sea breezes and kaleidoscopic sunsets, the Gunyulgup Brook teeming with fish and freshwater yabbies. Wild Light is a love letter to the energetic environment that forms a vital part of the Margaret River terroir. Choose from a vivid range of classics like Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz. Altus Rise isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel; instead, their focus is producing exceptional fruit that results in premium wines of finesse and refinement typical of Margaret River.
