Details
This handsome Garnacha Tintorera (AKA Alicante Bouchet) is one juicy beast. No time to be shy; ripe cherry, roasted plum, and white pepper with an edge of sweet bbq spice make for a mouth-filling palate of flavour. The Monastrell and Merlot share their part in the blend too, bringing balance and a savoury tone. This organic gem is one deliciously fun and flavourful punch!
Origin: France. Mainly Grown In: Spain, France, Chile, Portugal and USA. Key Facts: There's one thing about Alicante Bouschet (AKA Garnacha Tintorera) that makes it particularly special; unlike most grapes (which have white flesh), Alicante Bouschet has both red skin and red flesh! This is known as a ‘teinturier’ grape, and there are not many of them! This rare grape is a crossing of Grenache and the ultra-rare Petit Bouschet, and was first cultivated in France back in 1866. It was popular in the USA during prohibition - because its pulp is so pigmented and juicy, it could be converted into wine at a fast rate, and with its thick skin could be transported long distances across the country. Alicante Bouschet is loved for making big, thick fruity wines with smoky and sweet spice flavours. Fun Fact: Alicante Bouschet is the fifth most planted red grape variety in Spain!

Pairing guide
Coming straight from the coastal vineyards of Spain’s Alicante region, this deliciously soft and plush red blend is a real treat for the senses! When it comes to food pairing, this wine is most happily matched up with juicy red meats - especially lamb and fattier steaks like ribeye - and with duck breasts, particularly if served with a berry sauce! Garlic vegetables, sausages, wild mushrooms and grilled zucchini will also work brilliantly, and it’s also a safe choice for all your favourite meat and vegetable stews and casseroles.
