Details
This is a very special one-off Shiraz for Lucy and Alysha, made using grapes from the famous Warner Vineyard in Beechworth. Spicy, dark-fruited and ultra-sophisticated, this peppery Shiraz has cascading depths of blue and purple fruit that always head in a savoury direction.

Allevare, meaning to grow and nurture in Sicilian, are Lucy and Alysha, based in West Gippsland. Their aim is to bring you delicious, thoughtful, minimal-intervention wines that reflect their industry and culture from exciting wine regions. Lucy has many wine hats; working in the wine industry for the last twelve years, she has completed vintages in Chile, France and around Australia, has worked in wine retail and importing, and has mucked in with much vineyard and winery work. She finished her Masters of Oenology and Viticulture in 2018 at Adelaide University and has now come full circle with Allevare, as winemaker and viticulturist. Alysha was born in Melbourne, but her family is from Syracuse and the Aeolian Islands in Sicily. After many trips there, she is constantly inspired by the people, the way of life and importantly, the food and wine. After many years of working in London, Alysha decided to base herself in West Gippsland with Lucy, where she has found her love and inspiration for viticulture and winemaking.

Pairing guide
A Shiraz with this much savoury depth deserves food that leans the same way. Think slow-roasted venison, a peppered eye fillet or duck breast with a juniper jus, and it'll stand up beautifully to braised beef cheeks or a rich mushroom and thyme pie. That signature pepper note loves a proper steak au poivre, while the dark fruit welcomes a wedge of aged cheddar, a handful of dried figs or even a square of dark chocolate. A special wine for a special dinner.

Beechworth, Australia
Nestled in the rolling hills of Victoria, Australia, the Beechworth wine region is a hidden gem for wine lovers. With a history dating back to the 1860s, this cool climate region is known for producing top-notch Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. But don't let these wineries' small, boutique size fool you - the family-owned operations in Beechworth are serious about their craft, using traditional techniques to coax maximum flavour from the region's mineral-rich soils. Beechworth has had its ups and downs over the years; almost all of its vines were wiped out by disease in the early 1900s. The 1950s saw significant investment and the realisation of this small region's potential paved the way for some of Victoria's most prestigious wine producers. So grab a glass, let your hair down, and discover why Beechworth is the ultimate destination for wine lovers. Cheers!
