Details
This lovely Tempranillo comes from a mix of high altitude vineyards in the Ribera del Duero region. The fruit is all hand picked and fermented with stems to add spicy and floral complexity. Lighter than you might expect, slightly tangy, but plenty of pure fruit. Expect some sediment in the bottle, but don't fear - it's perfectly natural.

There’s always something truly exciting about uncovering an adventurous winemaker in one of the world’s great wine regions, and Alfredo Maestro definitely fits the bill. Working with vineyards located in Ribera del Duero D.O, Alfredo has - right from the beginning of his career - rejected the rules, regulations, and restrictions imposed by the D.O, preferring to follow his instincts in the creation of superb natural wines. No chemical nasties. No sulphur. No fining. No filtration. The wines of Alfredo Maestro are as natural as they come, many having been made with biodynamic practices, and with a strong commitment to organic farming and sustainable methods throughout his operation. The result is a stunning portfolio of wines which exude a rustic richness and mountains of character, born of a rebel spirit and bursting with the true taste of this extraordinary part of the world. We’ll drink to that!

Pairing guide
We’re big fans of this rich Tempranillo wine from Alfredo Maestro, and from the complex aroma alone you just know it’s going to pair beautifully with deeply savoury and rustic dishes. This wine has a particular affinity for smoky dishes - barbecued meats, smoked seitan, and smoked cheeses are all going to work fantastically well. Rich and thick tomato sauces and ragus are never a bad option, making this wine excellent with chilli con carne, spaghetti bolognese, lasagna, and homemade pizza, and it’s also delightful with corn dishes, Spanish-style polenta, and Iberian pork stews.
