Details
Anime is named after a 3-hectare vineyard that Alberto Oggero inherited from his grandfather, which includes 80 to 100-year-old Nebbiolo vines. He has delivered a classy medium-bodied, red and black fruited wine with finesse and beauty; the dark moody hints and fine tannins mark this as something very grown up and very special.
Alberto Oggero is a man with a mission. He believes in producing wines from classic Italian grapes which blur the lines between the classic and the contemporary, taking the quality and distinction of the region’s finest grapes and making them altogether more approachable, suitable for daily enjoyment, and stripped of their mystery and pretension. Having won an army of fans in the process, and having been considered a bona fide hidden gem in the Roero region, it seems his mission has already been achieved. Alberto works almost exclusively with Arneis and Nebbiolo varietal grapes, growing them under a watchful eye on his family’s stunning ancestral vineyards. His winemaking methods are uncomplicated and low on intervention, letting the fruit speak for itself in the bottle and the glass, and allowing the true flavour of the land come forward. Increasingly popular back at home and abroad, Alberto’s wines serve as an important reminder: great wine needn’t be complicated, and the real joy of drinking it comes alongside food, friends, family, and fun.

Pairing guide
The ‘Anime’ Roero Nebbiolo is perfumed and structured, with rose petal, sour cherry, and fine tannins. A beautiful match for truffle pasta, porcini risotto, or duck breast with cherry glaze. It also shines with aged cheeses, game meats, or a wild mushroom tart. The wine’s acidity and tannins need food with richness and a bit of fat—think braised meats, ragu, or hard cheeses like pecorino. It’s a thinking wine, with the heart of Piedmont and the soul of a dinner made with care.
