Pretty in Pink Bubbly

Pink bubbles for days

There aren't many wines that both look and taste beautiful. Except for a glass of sparkling rosé. Interestingly enough, sparkling rosé is actually an extremely tricky wine to make, as getting the balance right is an art form. But it sounds simple! You either get your usual light greenish/yellow sparkling wine and add red wine, or you use some red grapes in the winemaking and let the juice pick up some colour from the red berries. The trick is making sure that you don't really want to too much of the red wine flavours, just a hint (and a bit of pinkness). Because it's hard to get right, some of the world's most expensive sparkling wines are all rosé (especially in Champagne). With this selection, we're exploring a few of the more approachable sparkling rosé around (and yes, they all look amazing too).

In this special pack you'll enjoy: Dominio de La Vega 'No.11' Cava Brut Rosé 2021 The No. 11 is Dominio de La Vega’s rosé edition of Cava, which is a relatively new product in these parts. The result of organically grown Pinot Noir and Grenache is a delicious cherry and raspberry fruited sparkling with tart berries, a soft and creamy fizz with a touch of complexity for good measure. Sunshine & Spur Sparkling Rosé 2024 We do love working with talented winemakers here at GPD and Aaron Mercer is top of his class. This is vibrant, red berried goodness with a touch of lemon sherbet fizz. The Sunshine & Spur Sparkling Rosé is fit for celebrations and good times with vibrant fizz and the perfect balance of fruit and the hint of mineral edge. No added preservatives, sunshine in a bottle! Quick Dip Fizz Rosé 2023 The Quick Dip Fizz Rosé has raspberry and biscuit notes like biting into an Iced Vovo as well as subtle strawberries & cream undertones. The palate draws memories of misspent youth wasting pocket money on packets of sherbet at the local deli. Slightly sour, fizzy red fruit with a salivating finish that makes you want more.

interesting to note

Did you know that most light-coloured sparkling wine is made using red grapes? Winemakers have worked out that if you squish red grapes and then quickly take the juice away from the skins you get flavour without colour, like magic. You might see the term 'Blanc de Noir' on wine labels sometimes, and this is when you have a sparkling wine that is white, but made from red grapes.
