Vegan Delights
Going vegan
Did you know that a lot of wine isn't vegan? It's hard to imagine, but plenty of producers use animal byproducts in the winemaking process. These additions improve the look of the wine—they are used as fining agents to make the wine brighter and clearer. Recently, with the rise in popularity of veganism, some wineries now label their wines as vegan-friendly, which is helpful, but plenty of wine isn't labelled, so it's harder to tell. So, let's cut through the claims and show a few genuine vegan wine delights!
3 Proudly vegan wines
In this special pack you'll enjoy: Quick Dip Fizz Rosé 2023 The Quick Dip Fizz Rosé has raspberry and biscuit notes like biting into an Iced Vovo as well as subtle strawberries & cream undertones. The palate draws memories of misspent youth wasting pocket money on packets of sherbet at the local deli. Slightly sour, fizzy red fruit with a salivating finish that makes you want more. Apricus Hill Semillon 2023 Apricus Hill is the highest vineyard in Denmark (local Denmark, in Western Australia), sitting at circa 225m altitude. That doesn't sound like much, but it's enough to give the wines from this panoramic vineyard an extra cool climate pizazz, especially when you get hit by the chilly Denmark winds (which come straight off Antarctica). With bagfuls of crisp lemon vibes, this super refreshing west Australian white wine is all about purity. Tangy, tart and clean with just a little passionfruit hint, it's a wine of max refreshment. Sunshine & Spur Shiraz 2024 We love being just slightly ahead of the curve here at Good Pair Days, so when the opportunity came to collaborate with Aaron Mercer on a range of preservative-free wines, we jumped at the chance! Crammed with an array of juicy blueberry, blackberry and redcurrant aromas alongside pretty violets and notes of vanilla, clove, milk chocolate and pepper, this Shiraz is vibrant and plush with a textural, almost creamy mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with soft tannins, it’s a great way to end your day. No added preservatives, sunshine in a bottle!
Interesting to note
Vegan wines last just as long as non-vegan wines. The animal products aren't used as preservatives, so vegan wine is equally as stable and long-lasting. Vegan wines are still made with grapes, just like any other wine, it's just that no animal products have been used at any stage of the winemaking process.
