Story
Some of the best ideas start with a simple frustration. For the two friends behind Ordinary Soda, it was this: why does choosing a soft drink feel like you have to pick between something that tastes great and something that's actually good for you?
Founded in Melbourne in late 2023, Ordinary Soda set out to fix that. Their answer was to go back to basics - real squeezed fruit juice, raw sugar, natural botanicals, and nothing else that doesn't need to be there. No artificial sweeteners, no weird preservatives, no colours that make it look like it was designed in a lab. The result is a range of premium sodas that feel grown-up and genuinely flavourful, without any of the guilt that comes with cracking open a regular soft drink. Australian-made, all-natural, and quietly doing something pretty extraordinary for something that calls itself ordinary.
This one's a bit of a charmer. It opens with soft, ripe pear, then just as you're getting comfortable, a gentle warmth creeps in from the cardamom. Cardamom is a fragrant spice (think of the smell inside a good chai latte), and here it adds a subtle floral, almost perfumed quality that makes this feel a cut above your average soft drink.

PAIRING GUIDE
The gentle spice and soft fruitiness here make it a dream alongside food. Try it with a creamy brie and honey on a cracker, a bowl of fragrant lamb kofta with yoghurt sauce, or alongside a slice of almond cake. It also works beautifully as a palate cleanser between bites of something rich - think a grazing board loaded with charcuterie and sharp aged cheddar.
