Story

With the motto of 'In Hops We Trust', is it any wonder that Hop Nation would make a range of full-flavoured beers?

But there's more to the Hop Nation story than just big beers. Good mates Sam Hambour and Duncan Gibson are also winemakers, crafting delicious lo-fi drinks under the Site Wine label and making wine everywhere from Barolo to the Okanagan Valley.

There's a crossover with their winemaking focus on beer as well, including some fascinating barrel-matured sours. The lo-fi approach from beer to wine remains the same, with a big focus on using natural ingredients and an emphasis on letting those flavours shine with no pasteurisation and minimal filtration.

The proud winner of the 2025 Consistency of Excellence Award at the Australian International Beer Awards (after winning a gold medal in three years in a row) this powerfully aromatic, crisp and delicious IPA is a real benchmark. There's a classic pine lime herbaceous hoppy note when you take a first whiff, then a dry, and full-flavoured palate of real punchy intensity. A really smart, properly intense beer that is understandably well loved.

As if you needed more proof that Melbourne’s Hop Nation are more than on top of their craft beer game, this fabulous IPA truly drives the message home. Deeply hoppy and utterly refreshing, it’s the kind of beer you want to crack open on a sunny afternoon when Mediterranean prawn or fish dishes are on the menu. Curried white meats and vegetables are always going to be a winner here, and it’s also excellent with grilled chicken thighs, Moroccan cuisine and cured pork. Yes please!
