Story

Arguably one of the most pivotal non-alcoholic breweries to be launched in Australia, Heaps Normal have, in just a few years, redefined what beer can taste like sans alcohol.

What's even wilder is that Heaps Normal launched in July 2020, smack bang in the middle of the wild COVID-19 lockdown era that destroyed so many other brands. At the time, there were only a few non-alc beer options available, and it was a rarer sight to see one at your local bar and pub.

Our co-founders, pro surfer Jordy Smith, beer-brander Andy Miller and brewer Ben Holdstock set out to take the best bits of Aussie drinking culture and package them into great-tasting beers that they believe have 'helped to normalise new ways to drink and play'.

Whether you've got a half day off or a half day left, this slice of tropical sunshine in a can will take you halfway to a holiday. It's a Hazy Pale Ale, which means you get a beer with a bit more body and juiciness, making it a bit softer and less bitter than some other styles. It's rather moreish too - such a high quality non alcoholic beer!

PAIRING GUIDE

If you ever had any doubt that a non-alcoholic beer could hit all the high notes when it comes to flavour… this hazy brew from Heaps Normal is about to rock your world. Not only does it taste great and deliver no shortage of satisfaction, it’s a brilliant choice for food pairing, too. We loved it with breaded and fried fish, white meats and veggies, and found it worked especially well with meat-free burgers and ingredients like fried tofu and paneer. However, you’ll get equally good results with aged charcuterie, katsu curry and Hong Kong sweet and sour chicken or pork, as well as with strong cheeses and loaded fries or nachos. Who could possibly ask for more?
