Story
South Africa's most-awarded distillery, Ginologist, is a Cape Town-based operation that takes spirits deadly seriously. Even the name Ginologist is a nod to the traditional Greek word for expert, with Matt van Wyk and team proud to call themselves gin experts.
Like so many origin stories, Ginologist started with a few drinks-loving friends keen to make their own stuff. That was Matt van Wyk, who ended up enlisting his son Albert on this quest to make serious gin. They tinkered, they experimented and came up with a rather spicy gin that made waves back in 2016.
Since then, Ginologist went from a still in the family home to a full-tilt distillery in the heart of South African wine country (there is even a Shiraz Stained Gin using local Shiraz grapes in the range too).
This 'London Dry' Non Alcoholic Gin shows the Ginologist team flexing their distilling skills, delivering a gin that they describe as having 'all the ritual and good taste associated with pouring a premium gin, without any of the alcohol'. Soft edged and quite pretty, this clean, crisp and citrussy gin has real character AND no alcohol. Such a win!

PAIRING GUIDE
With so much of that classic gin DNA, it's little wonder we're recommending you reach for some lemon and serve this on ice in classic G & T style (although it's contentious whether this is more of a cucumber gin). We like pairing this with aromatic dishes otherwise - fragrant Indian curries (but mild ones), Vietnamese Bahn Xeo or a lightly spiced Thai salad would work wonderfully here, although again go light on the spice so it doesn't rob this non-alcoholic gin of some thunder.
