Story
The name gives it away. Dad & Dave's is indeed run by Dad (John) and Dave, who decided in 2011 to give the whole brewery thing a go, going on to set up their own brewery in the Sydney beer hotspot of Brookvale. Over the years, this has become a true family affair, now run by Dad, Dave, Mum, Jess, Scott and James with any (or all) of them typically found pouring beers on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Interestingly, Dad & Dave's started largely because John & Dave wanted to save some money on beer. After early batches sold through like hotcakes to friends and family, they decided to go all in, jointly enrolling in a brewing degree to level up their skills.
In Brookvale (known locally as 'Brewvale'), Dad & Dave's provides a point of difference too, with a range of sesssionable beers that pivots away from just Pale Ales and Lagers into English and Belgian-style ales, single-hop IPAs, unique sours, and all sorts of barrel-aged oddities.
The dog-friendly Dad & Dave's brewup has quite the local following too, with live music on weekends and most famously, what was voted as Australia's best burgers (as voted by an Opentable poll in 2022).
The X in this Mountain XPA (Extra Pale Ale) is the proudly all-Kiwi hop focus, as it is crafted with a mountain of the best from NZ. You can see the mix of Motueka, Nelson Sauvin and Superdelic hops, which bring a combination of passionfruit, lime, and a little dried herbs to the mix. The personality of this Dad & Dave's Mountain XPA feels straight away fresh and lively, but also with an air of tropical generosity as well.

PAIRING GUIDE
Brisk, bracing and magnificently refreshing, we can really see where this ‘mountain’ beer takes its name. Dad & Dave’s Brewing is an exciting Brookvale craft operation, and we just know you’re going to love getting into this fantastic release - especially when paired with the right dishes and ingredients. All that dry hoppy character makes it particularly good with fattier meats like sirloin steak, pork chops, leg of lamb and confit duck, but it’s also brilliant with spicy southeast Asian flavours, too. Vietnamese steak salad, pad Thai, yakitori chicken and tonkatsu curry are highly recommended, and it’s also great with a heaving plate of fish and chips. Yum!
