Story
Applewood Distillery is the pioneering project of Brendan and Laura Carter who are probably better known as the team behind Adelaide Hills winemaking hero brand Unico Zelo. This distilling project kicked off in 2012 with a gin using local Adelaide Hills botanicals and has expanded to now cover a raft of intriguing spirits that proudly feature uniquely Australian ingredients.
More than just Aussie flavours, this range of fascinating distilled delights also includes a raft of collabs with renowned winemakers, bars and other producers including Commune of Buttons and the famed Melbourne small bar Byrdi.
This aperitivo is one of the most enduring favourites from Applewood Distillery and is a truly magnificent alternative to Campari or the like with a distinct local flavour. Made with native plums, rhubarb and strawberry eucalyptus plus some Australian Grenache, this is a juicy, tangy and bittersweet aperitivo custom-made for making epic negroni and spritz.
