Details
A stunning Riesling here from Thörle. Off-dry, yes, but the acidity and freshness is so piercing that it comes across drier than it is. This wine is rocking with fresh lime, lemon and yellow melon infused with a flinty, gun smoke accent. In the mouth there is another shot of lime cordial, with a lovely textural grip, coming from a touch of skin contact. Brilliantly executed.
The ambitious Thörle brothers have been spearheading the Weingut Thörle project since 2006 when they both decided to leave their day jobs and pursue careers in the wine trade. Nestled in the middle of the Rheinhessen - Germany's largest wine region - is a new and modern winery at Thörle, designed to help this dynamic duo to harness and produce the very best wines that nature allows. Since they took up control of the estate, Christoph & Johannes have managed to turn quite a few heads in the wine game as their reputation of precise winemaking precedes them. Some of their single vineyards sites Probstey, Hölle and Schlossberg in particular have sparked the interest of wine critics from around the world, and are now considered to be top cru level sites. As well as producing quite outstanding white wines from Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, the pair also craft extremely high quality Pinot Noir. Their wines have even managed to bag a seal of approval from the Queen, who we understand was a fan of Thörle's wines when she drank them at a banquet in 2015.

Pairing guide
With its gorgeous balance and thrilling touch of residual sweetness, this gorgeous Riesling is sure to impress fans of every serious wine lover’s favourite white varietal. You’re going to get fantastic results pairing this wine with seafood such as scallops and crab, especially if given a lift with a flash of chilli and plenty of fresh herbs. Thai and Vietnamese cuisine also works brilliantly here, and it will very happily match up with curries with a coconut base, Singapore noodles, pork and apple combos, and satay chicken, tofu, or fish.
