Details
Here at GPD headquarters, we do love a versatile wine; whether it be for an evening indoors or a Sunday afternoon by a shady tree. This Grenache blend ticks all the boxes with a nice array of red fruit, balanced by some juicy tannin and subtle spice.

Origin: Southern Rhône, France & Northern Spain Mainly Grown In: Southern France, Northern Spain, South Australia Key Facts: Grenache has a curious way of making a great team captain when it comes to blends. Who can resist the confident red fruity flavours and spice it brings to the game! Though it’s most recognised for its contribution to the GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre) blend, it also has a more-than-a-bit part to play in Tempranillo blends across the border. Where the French make it a GSM, the Spanish usually stick with the GTG (Grenache, Tempranillo and Graciano) blend and to be honest, you can also find some Mourvèdre around, which is known in these parts as Monastrell. The adventurous Australian wineries are known to include Grenache in any red wine they chose to as well.. Why?!?.. Well, just because. Fun Fact: One of the emerging varieties is Marselan, which is a cross of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is basically a way of wineries saving the effort of blending these two varieties in the winery. Grenache fruit and spice with Cabernet structure!

Pairing guide
Southern French wines made from Grenache and other friends, are one of those timeless wine styles that’s just made for accompanying big, hearty, and thoroughly satisfying dinners. Traditionally, this type of red wine is paired with game - and it’s hard to imagine a better pairing than with wild boar. However, any dark meat will do the job very nicely indeed, and it’s fantastic with beef stews, lamb braises and casseroles, and barbecued chops and steaks. Berry sauces work brilliantly, as do roasted root vegetables, Texan-style smoked meat dishes, and anything with beans and lentils as the star of the show.
