Details
This Tempranillo is soft and fruity, leading with ripe cherries, plums, and a touch of stewed cranberry, and rounded out by hints of white pepper and red liquorice. It's light-bodied with low tannins, staying juicy and easy-drinking, with a bit of darker fruit adding depth on the palate. It's simple, friendly, and all about the fruit.
Origin: Spain. Mainly Grown In: Spain, Portugal, Argentina. Key Facts: You love the bold and the beautiful; the kind of beauty that is confident, self-assured, secure and doesn’t need to spend extra time in the mirror for a self-guided pep talk in order to look mega hot on the dance floor. Meet Tempranillo, a Spanish grape with a confident backbone of tannin balanced with sweeter red fruits like cherries and strawberries and with an alluring kick of spice. Tempranillo is praised both in its youth as well as being able to age. In fact, in Rioja, they have an entire grading system based on the time it spends ageing in oak. The more time in oak, the more expensive, and the more you will notice flavours becoming more leathery and savoury. It is important to remember, however, that more time in oak does not necessarily mean it is better quality. Fun Fact: Tempranillo is the fourth most planted grape in the world!

Pairing guide
This Tempranillo's bright red fruit and gentle structure make it a great match for casual, flavourful dishes. Try herb-roasted chicken with cherry jus, or grilled pork sausages with a cranberry–mustard glaze to play up its sweet-tart berry notes. A mushroom and thyme flatbread pairs nicely with its soft tannins and peppery lift. For a vegan option, go for roasted beet and lentil burgers with a black-raspberry relish - the earthy sweetness and juicy fruit make a perfect, easygoing pairing for this charming red.
