Details
This Cab blend is like a Bordeaux classic that went on a spiritual retreat and came back cooler - vegan, sustainably grown, and aged 20 months in French oak. It opens with deep, moody layers of blackcurrants, blackberries, and that unmistakable blackcurrant leaf, balanced by pops of red fruit, a dash of liquorice, and just enough vegetal edge to keep things interesting. There’s vanilla, chocolate, and sweet spice swirl from the oak. On the palate, it’s a texture bomb - caramel, figs, dates, dried blackcurrants, cedar, and a pinch of cinnamon, wrapped in minty, floral, herbal goodness with a soft kiss of eucalyptus. Silky smooth tannins and a finish that lasts longer than your last relationship.

Introducing Viña Requingua - aka one of Chile’s best-kept wine secrets that’s not really a secret anymore. Founded way back in 1961 by the legend Don Santiago Achurra, this is a proper family-run operation that’s been quietly climbing the ranks to become one of Chile’s top 20 wine producers. We’re talking vineyards stretched across some of the country’s prime spots - Curicó, Maule, and Colchagua Valleys - aka the holy trinity of sunny days, cool nights, and perfect grape-growing vibes. It’s like a Mediterranean holiday, but for Cabernet and Syrah. Oh, and winemaking duties? Handled by Benoît Fitte, a Frenchman who’s been steering the ship since 2001 and clearly knows his barrels from his bâtonnage. But here’s the best part - it’s big production with small family energy. Even though they’re shipping out over 600,000 cases a year, they still run things like a close-knit crew, with proper hands-on care and “everyone knows everyone” vibes. Since the '90s they’ve gone all in on stainless steel tech and serious French oak, cranking out Reserva-level wines that have scooped up awards like Best Chilean Red at Cata d'Or. So yeah - if you're into wines with soul, structure, and a side of humble brilliance, Viña Requingua should definitely be on your radar (and in your glass).

Pairing guide
This Cab blend is complex, smooth, and totally dinner-party royalty - so bring out the big flavours. Try it with a slow-roasted lamb shoulder rubbed in anchovy, rosemary, and garlic, falling off the bone and ready to soak up that cassis core. Or go bold with a beef and black olive ragu tossed through pappardelle - salty, savoury, and built to match the wine’s herbal, graphite-laced charm. For the veggies - a charred beetroot and lentil wellington with thyme gravy is a perfect match. Bonus points if you serve it alongside a smoked aubergine baba ganoush on toast as a starter - because this wine loves texture, smoke, and a bit of flair.
