Details
Smoky Cabernet here with plenty of tannic grip and lots of liquorice-laced black forest gateau fruit! It's rich and ripe, with body and grunt. Cabernet, just how we like it!

Origin: It’s believed that the first wines made were in the Médoc region, in the west of France. Mainly Grown In: France, USA, Australia, Italy, Chile, South Africa, Argentina, Spain, NZ… all over, really! Key Facts: Cabernet Sauvignon is truly a globetrotter. Having its home in Bordeaux certainly helped its rapid expansion, as the Bordelaise (those coming from Bordeaux) are excellent marketers of their own product! Now found in almost all wine-producing countries of the world, Cab Sav is traditionally full-bodied, loaded with plenty of dark fruit (think blueberry and blackberry) and backed up by a zing of herbal/grassy kind of flavours. It’s also known for its strong backbone of tannin – that furry, drying sensation you sometimes get with red wines. Cabernet has plenty of it, but is still a smooth talker regardless. Fun Fact: In a study done by Heriot-Watt University, they found that different music types could boost a taster’s wine score by 60%… blasting some Hendrix would enhance Cabernet Sauvignon while a Kylie Minogue tune went well with a glass of Chardonnay. Very apt.

Pairing guide
We just know you’re going to have the same reaction to this deeply flavourful and delicious Cabernet Sauvignon as we did: love at first sip. It’s a great wine for dinner parties and family gatherings, and will pair best with rich red meat stews and casseroles, grilled sirloin steak with wild mushroom or green peppercorn sauce, or with portobello mushrooms stuffed with blue cheese and thyme. Offal or game dishes will work a treat, as will roast aubergine and other Mediterranean vegetables. Perfect!

Wine region
Castilla-La Mancha, Spain
La Mancha is a wine region in Spain known for its hot and dry climate, high altitude vineyards, and significant grape production the top sub-regions are Almansa, Jumilla, and Manchuela, each with its own unique wine styles. The terroir across these regions can be characterized by the high chalk content of its soil, which helps to retain moisture during the arid summers. The top wine styles produced in La Mancha are primarily red wines made from the Tempranillo grape, including the well-known Crianza and the top tier Reserva styles, as well as Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. However, the region also produces some white wines made from the fruity Airen grape, which is a native varietal of La Mancha and one of the most widely planted white grape varieties in the world.
