Details
This delightful lo-fi Baga from the uber-talented Dirk Niepoort is nothing short of delicious. We have attractive herbal notes of rosemary and sage that marry beautifully with a rather natural, funky black fruit set. This is medium-bodied, with a nice dose of tannin. A rustic wine, with bags of character and personality - this one is not to be missed.
Triangle Wines is a new, innovative project that has seen one of Good Pair Days' favourite wine companies, Indigo Wines, scouring the globe in search of striking up special partnerships with world-renowned winemakers, and making some pretty awesome wine along the way! Their travels have taken them as far as Argentina, Chile and Portugal. It is the latter of those three that we focus on. The Triangle Wines initiative has teamed up with arguably Portugal's most famous winemaker: Dirk van der Niepoort. Together he and Indigo have launched the 'Sanha' project, using exceptional fruit coming out of Dirk's Quinta de Baixo estate in the Bairrada wine region. Here the team craft two wines under the Sanha banner, a brilliant white blend, utilising the ever-impressive Bical grape variety, as well as a scintillating red wine made from Baga, the local signature red grape of the region. Dirk firmly believes that he has access to some of the best vineyards and terroirs in Bairrada, and when you taste the Sanha wines, it's difficult to disagree with him!

Pairing guide
Baga is one of the lesser-known Portuguese varieties making its presence felt on these shores, and we couldn’t be happier with the current Iberian invasion of delicious reds on the market! This bottle is superb for pairing with the punchy flavours of smoked fish and meat, cured pork and other charcuterie, salty cheeses like feta and grilled halloumi, and all kinds of homemade burgers or ribs recipes. Roast pork with crackling - a proper Sunday roast favourite - will be brilliant, and it’s not half bad with pork loin, roast chicken or steak with peppercorn sauce, either.
