Details
This is a unique blend of grapes, yet, in South Africa, we have become accustomed to this level of 'Merger-ing'. Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier make up the mix. This is waxy, with notes of apricot and a citrus-focused palate. Tart yet creamy with fabulous energy. A delight.
Let it be known, South Africa is one of the most exciting wine-producing countries in the world. It is the bridge between the new world and the old and has been producing wine longer than any other nation outside of Europe. The country has become synonymous with world-class white wine made from Chenin Blanc and an array of outstanding red wine styles, from Pinotage (the national grape, if you like), to impressive Bordeaux-style blends, Syrah and fabulous Pinot Noir to name but a few. Each wine region in South Africa has its own, unique, distinct style and none more so than the epically impressive Swartland. This is a region that is enjoying a very loud revolution and is home to some of the most exciting, dynamic projects in the Cape and by virtue of that, in the world. Expect impressive, eclectic, at times bonkers blends such as the impressive, insane-value wines from The Merger. These beautifully packaged wines perfectly encompass everything that we have come to love about the Swartland.

Pairing guide
A white blend that’s very much more than the sum of its parts, this wine from The Merger is a great addition to any beach barbecue, picnic or lunch spread. It’s going to be fantastic with simple pasta dishes, white fish and richer seafood recipes, vegetable or chicken risottos and all kinds of chicken, turkey or vegetarian salads. It’s more than capable of handling a bit of spice, so chilli-spiked tofu, Sichuan fish or fiery Thai curries and salads will also be great here!

Wine region

Swartland, South Africa
Imagine a land of scorching hot summers and rocky, sandy soils, where only the bravest grapevines dare to grow. This is the Swartland, a wine region located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. Here, the wines are bold and full-bodied, with flavours and concentration that will knock your socks off. The winemakers of the Swartland are a rebellious bunch, always pushing the boundaries and experimenting with new techniques. In fact, the Swartland has become a hub for innovation and experimentation in the wine world, pioneered by a few, forward-thinking winemakers who have dared to challenge the status quo by working with an eclectic mix of grape varieties. So if you're looking for a wine that's anything but boring, give the Swartland a try. You might just find your new favourite bottle!
