Details
Where to start? Yes, incredible Pinot Grigio at this price point is a thing, and this wine is hard to beat. Beeswax and prickly pear characters dominate. This is complex and nutty, with subtle cashew undertones and a real salty tang. Lean and pure, decant for the best results.

"For me, wine is life"... It would be difficult to speak about top-quality wine from Italy and not include Mario Schiopetto in that conversation. He is widely considered one of the founding fathers of Italian white wine and a true pioneer, his early wines helped to change perceptions of Italian white wine, forever. Mario was also responsible for introducing many modern winemaking techniques to Italy, both in the vineyard and in the wine cellar. Towards the end of his tenure, Mario passed the reins of his property over to his children, who worked hard to continue their father's hard work and uphold his legend. The estate is now in the capable hands of the Rotolo family who have also done a fantastic job of keeping Mario's philosophy alive to this day. This is an approach born out of an unwavering desire to let his vineyards speak for themselves, to give them a voice, so to speak. The wines of Schiopetto are arguably some of the best Italian white wines out there, we are delighted to have them here at Good Pair Days.

Pairing guide
It’s impossible not to be swept away by the freshness, elegant fruit flavours and overall revitalising character of this Pinot Grigio by Schiopetto. It’s the perfect choice for sunny afternoon dining, and will pair spectacularly well with simple chicken dishes featuring exotic fruits or a citrus dressing, as well as with classic seafood risotto or pasta dishes. Fruitier curries, green salads, barbecued white fish and soft cheeses - especially burrata and buffalo mozzarella - will work a treat, as will pesto dishes and grilled pork chops.

Wine region
Friuli, Italy
Friuli is a wine region located in the northeastern part of Italy, near the border with Slovenia. The region is known for producing a variety of wine styles, including white, red, and sparkling wines. The white wines of Friuli are often made from grape varieties such as Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay, and are known for their crisp, aromatic character. Friuli is also home to a number of indigenous grape varieties, such as Tocai Friulano and Ribolla Gialla, which are used to produce distinctive white wines. The red wines of Friuli are typically made from grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Refosco, and are known for their elegance and finesse. Friuli has a unique climate, with cool nights and warm days, which helps to preserve the acidity in the grapes and produces wines with a refreshing character.
