Details
Sangiovese dons a darker dress in Lorenzo's 'Amaranto' cuvée. We love the black pepper and charcoal character, with subtle notes of blue fruit and spice. The tannins are firm, but fair with a lovely sinewy chew, balancing out fresh acidity. A powerful wine.
Podere San Cristoforo is owned and headed up by the talented Lorenzo Zonin. Prosecco drinkers might be familiar with the name Zonin, as these are one of the largest producers of the nation's favourite fizz, with estates also in Tuscany, Puglia and Sicily. Lorenzo, however, has chosen to walk his own impressive path. San Cristoforo is farmed according to biodynamic practice and the wines are sensational. Naturally, being in Tuscany, Sangiovese is a big focus, however, Lorenzo has also crafted some impressive Petit Verdot from sandy soils, as well as stunning white wines from the Vernaccia grape variety. These range from crisp and pure in style, to much richer, more Burgundian-esque wines. Finally, Lorenzo has created the world's first Pét Nat sparkling wine made from Vernaccia (Rebel). All of these wines are brand new not only to Good Pair Days but to the UK as well. Enjoy!

Pairing guide
We’re huge fans of this characterful and sunny Sangiovese at Good Pair Days, and we just know you’re also going to adore its various food-friendly charms and satisfying flavours, too! It’s a great wine to match up with all your favourite classic Italian dishes, from a simple mozzarella and tomato pizza to a hearty lasagna or ragu with pasta or polenta. Slow-cooked lamb and pork stews with San Marzano tomatoes, olives and plenty of parmesan will hit the spot perfectly, and it’s also great with tagine dishes, roast aubergine and cheesy mushrooms, too.

Wine region

Tuscany, Italy
Tuscany is a region located in central Italy known for its rolling hills, beautiful countryside, and rich cultural and artistic heritage. But for us, it’s synonymous with wine, mainly those of Chianti. The Tuscany wine region is located in central Italy and is known for producing formidable red wines made from grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The area is home to several famous wine regions, including Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which are known for producing some of Italy's most highly regarded wines. Notable producers include Antinori for their legendary Chianti and Tenuta San Guido for their fabled Sassicaia label.
