Details
This is Viura like you’ve never tasted it — Stellenbosch sunshine meets Spanish soul. Light golden in the glass, the wine opens with delicate aromas of lemon zest, white peach, chamomile, and a gentle brush of almond. On the palate, it’s textural and quietly complex — think crisp orchard fruit layered with a soft, waxy richness and a whisper of salinity that hints at the vineyard’s granite soils. Naturally fermented and unfiltered, it finishes dry, clean, and slightly savoury, inviting sip after thoughtful sip.
Based in the heart of Stellenbosch, South Africa’s most iconic wine region, Pilgrim Wines is a solo venture from winemaker Bryan MacRobert — a modern-day wine pilgrim whose journey spans continents, vintages, and grape-growing philosophies. Originally from South Africa, Bryan spent several years honing his craft in Spain (most notably in Rioja), before returning home with a head full of ideas and a suitcase full of inspiration. Pilgrim is the result: a project that marries South African terroir with an Old World sensibility. Bryan’s approach is minimalist and intentional — he works with select vineyard sites, embracing dry farming, organic practices, and low-intervention methods that let the fruit and site do the talking. In a region known for big, polished wines, Pilgrim takes a quieter path: lighter extractions, native yeasts, no additives, and a focus on purity and place. Each bottle is a reflection of the land, the vintage, and the journey — both literal and figurative — that brought it into being.

Pairing guide
Pilgrim’s Viura is all about subtlety and nuance, so it pairs beautifully with food that echoes that vibe. Try it with grilled prawns, fresh oysters, or a citrus-dressed fennel salad. It’s also a dream with soft cheeses like chèvre or burrata, or a gently herbed roast chicken with lemon and thyme. Keep it fresh, keep it elegant, and let this wine do its quiet thing.

Wine region

Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch is one of South Africa’s premier wine regions, located in the Western Cape, outside Cape Town. In South Africa, wine regions are known as winelands. Stellenbosch means ‘town of oaks’ and its winemaking dates back to the 17th century. The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The wineland itself is known for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the local speciality, Pinotage.
