Details
We are in love with this wine. A blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre - with a dash of Merlot - this wine spends one year in oak barrels. The meatiness of the Mourvèdre shines through and underpins its incredibly ripe, vivid black fruit character. We have smokiness form oak and a rusticity and concentration you can only get from the south of France. A complete wine.

Pierrick Harang is from good winemaking stock and operates a very slick, smart operation out of southern France. This part of the country is a fruit basket and home to a wide range of grape varieties. Pierrick's father was the Chef de Cave, or head winemaker, at the famous Mumm Champagne house, so it is fair to say that Pierrick knows how to make wine. His style of winemaking is clinical, and his wines are true to their terroir, form and grape variety. The last time our wine team met with Pierrick, he was particularly keen to show us his sparkling wine, 'Les Bulles'. He told us that his father approved (and so did we). During his downtime, away from the winery, you will find Pierrick wind and kit-surfing. For the moment, we have brought in his 'Petit Balthazar' range of wines to the UK. These are quite stunning, shining examples of precise winemaking, his white blend of Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc is incredibly fresh, as is his rosé and his Merlot is a cooler-climate iteration of the grape, delivering elegance and class.

Pairing guide
We simply can’t get enough of this beautiful GSM wine from the ever-exciting Pierrick Harang winery, which perfectly encapsulates everything we adore about this timeless red blend. When it comes to food pairing, it’s a great match for roast poultry - especially if served with roast Mediterranean vegetables and some aromatic herbs like rosemary and thyme. Leg of lamb, tagine stews, ratatouille, stuffed peppers and spicy chorizo would also be excellent pairings to try.
