Details
A sumptuous, slightly wild and feral Grenache-Mourvèdre blend out of the Côte Catalanes region of southern France. Mulch, damp earth, black pepper and game notes leap from the glass.

Both Olivier Pithon and his brother Jo (now a wine grower) were introduced to wine at a very young age in the Loire Valley’s Anjou sub-region, after spending valuable vineyard time with their grandfather. The pair have been working in vineyards since they were around 14 years old, and whilst Jo has stayed loyal to his roots – raising a vineyard in Coteaux du Layon – Olivier moved to Bordeaux to develop his winemaking acumen. Following that, Olivier has also gained key experience in Jurançon and Beaujolais. Since 2010 Olivier has worked tirelessly and successfully according to biodynamic principles thanks in part to Jacques Mell (a leading biodynamics advisor) and carefully follows this school of thought. He is particularly devoted not just to the winemaking side of biodynamics, but perhaps more to the diversity it promotes within his vineyards. Pithon rears sheep, beehives and cows, all of which are welcome on his land. Oh, and his wines are pretty natural and pretty darn delicious!

Pairing guide
Grenache blends, such as this wonderful release from the ever-reliable Oliver Pithon, are right up there on our list of best food-friendly reds. As such, the list of what this bottle pairs with could go on for many pages! We personally loved it with a pork and venison pie, but it’s going to be equally good with lasagna or other ragu-based dishes, roast chicken with gravy, hanger steak with chips or mash, aubergine parmigiana, and stuffed mushrooms with blue cheese. Roast sweet potato and butternut squash, vegetarian cassoulet, and duck breast with beans or lentils would also hit the high notes - give it a try!
